The answer, this year, has been clear to see. Feedback from the latest round of our Connect Inspires programme shows just how powerful meaningful employer engagement can be, for young people and employers alike.
Students are leaving their workplace visits with a much better understanding of the career opportunities that exist right here in Northumberland. They are more aware of what the world of work actually expects, and crucially, they feel more confident about their own futures. For many, seeing a real workplace up close turns something abstract into something they can genuinely picture themselves doing.
Employers are feeling the benefit too. By opening their doors, they are strengthening their connections with the local community and playing a direct role in inspiring the next generation of talent, the very people who could one day join their teams.
A huge thank you to all of the employers who welcomed young people in this year, and to the schools who made these experiences possible. None of it happens without that partnership.
